NEW PAGES!

Today I gave my first performance of “Here  There Be Dragons!”  It was exciting to finally share this routine with the kids at EduCare in St. Charles.  A lot of planning went into this routine, including building a new square circle (a castle for a treasure hunt) and a specially built Run, Dragon, Run prop.

In keeping with this first performance, I have started a page of Riddles from the dragons in the show, POOF and Frank (full name: Smouldering Descendent of the Great Wyrm Dragons, but he prefers Frank).  There are a dozen riddles and dragon images on it now.  Hope to double that soon.

Also, since I have been attending a couple of Farmers Markets in the area (South Elgin on Wednesdays and St. Charles on Fridays) and demonstrating and selling simple magic tricks, I decided that it is time to put a magic shoppe on the site.  While there is no online feature to it, items can be ordered and picked up at the markets, at my home, or shipped.

Check out these new pages and let me know what you think!

Magic & Malarky Update – May 1

I am currently scheduling “The Library is Haunted” performances at local libraries for summer months.  I currently have 4 performances and 4 Wizard School events during June.

I will also have a booth at the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in Geneva, Illinois on June 25.  If you attend or volunteer at that event, be sure to look me up and say hi.

I am working on plans for a preschool program entitled “Simply Magic” that emphasizes basic ideas like colors and sizes and shapes and numbers.  And usually has the kids correcting the magician!  That routine also includes Lucky the Leprechaun who spends a lot of time being embarrassed by the magician!

I have had the first interest in a Christmas themed presentation.  I am starting to think about that.  There is a lot of cool magic that can add to the “magic of the season.”  What I am working on would lend itself to libraries and private parties as well.  Sooooo, be sure to keep that in mind if you want to add some magic and holiday malarky to your seasonal party!

I recently learned that the 2011 Illinois Summer Reading theme is “A Midsummer Knight’s Dream.”  It is about medieval themes.  I may have to come up with a dragon puppet!

I am also working on short table routines for approaching a local restaurant about performing there.  And I am always looking for birthday parties where I can share my special brand of magic and malarky!

So stay posted.  Watch here for new additions to the site that I hope will add to the fun and magic and malarky.  I think there will in the near future be a “Spooky’s Corner” and a “Lucky’s Corner.”  And let me know if you are interested in a performance!

Magic and Malarky in October

I had a great time in October presenting “The Library is Haunted!” at the Town & Country Public Library in Elburn on October 12 and at the Kaneville Public Library on Halloween afternoon.  Thanks to those libraries for letting me present this program, and to the enthusiastic children (and adults!) and each library.
