Magic and Malarky

Ron's magic for libraries, preschools, children's birthday parties, and more in Chicago's west and northwest suburbs and northern Illinois

Birthday Party Performances

wizard - cartoonish

It comes once a year – our birthday.  That enchanted day when we count another year and celebrate with friends. Let Ron bring his Magic and Malarky to your celebration of this special day.  The performance is about 45 minutes and includes music and audience interaction.  Birthday show performances end with Ron’s special Magic Candy Bake!

The birthday child (of any age!) is given a wizard’s hat and may assist the wizard in the show.  The birthday child also gets a Bag of Magic (includes a magic wand) with a few simple tricks that they can learn to perform.   There is a $5 charge for an extra bag of magic when two siblings are sharing a party.  If the schedule of your party allows, a complimentary lesson on how to perform the tricks in the bag may be included while Ron is there to perform.

While children of 4 or 5 years and older can certainly enjoy watching magic, they may not be ready to learn to perform it.  Simple tricks can certainly be included to compensate as much as possible.  Or, a magic bag can be brought to mom or dad to perform for the child until he or she is old enough to take lessons and learn for themselves.  For more information on age appropriate magic, see my article: http://magicandmalarky.wordpress.com/2011/08/10/595/.

Birthday party performances generally include silks appearing and then changing into other colors, ropes cut and restored, the cups and balls, and lots of other great magical fun!  The performance usually concludes with a magic candy bake!  If your child  has a favorite illusion they would like to see, be sure to ask!

With a performance, a Wizard School Session may be added for $10 per child.  (Wizard School is most effective for children appproximately 7 or 8 and older.)  Each child gets a small bag of magic and 30 – 45 minutes of group instruction.  (Time may be negotiated; Wizard School can run a little longer if need be.)

Ongoing lessons of Wizards School may also be scheduled  at the Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin.  Lessons may also be arranged at your home or another local library (Some limitaions may apply on libraries; some mileage may apply beyond the Elgin/St. Charles area.).  Start with a performance and keep the magic going with sessions of Wizards School!

Make it a really special birthday with magic!  Schedule a magic performance, add goodie bags and lessons with a session of Wizards School, and keep the magic going with ongoing sessions of Wizards School.

Hi,

I got your info off of New Elgin. com website & was wondering what your charges are for a B-day party for a soon to be 8yr old & what your available dates are for June. Her b-day is 6-12, but I’m flexible with the dates. How many children can we invite?
Thanks,
Amy

Thanks, Amy! I sent you an e-mail with the info you requested. For the sake of information for others, the only issue about numbers for the performance is available space for the performance.

This sounds wonderful. I wish you were in Missouri. I would love to have you preform at my Grandchildrens’ birthdays. The fact that you would teach the children some magic tricks at no charge is great!
